The team includes two-time gold medalists Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi and Tamika Catchings, and three other members of the brigade of Beijing 2008.

"I think the group of players we have, with three of us two-time Olympian, four of us go to the Games second and five rookies, gives us a good mix with one goal in mind," Taurasi said.

"We want to win a gold medal and we are focused on that."

However, there are a number of teams in the field able to give Americans a hard time.
