Before Portugal take to the people of Spain in the last four years on Wednesday, UEFA.com met veterans of the previous three semifinal appearances Selecção.

Competing in his third semifinal in the last four years, Portugal has roots pedigree European Championship, but face a tough test if they will deny Iberian neighbors Spain a second consecutive appearance gem. UEFA.com spoke to three players to appear in the semifinals of the Selecção and asked them to share their memories.
23/06/1984 France 3-2 Portugal (ts) (Marseille)
Barge: We finished third in 1984, but easily could have finished second or even first. In that game against France, which had a golden opportunity by Nene to end the game in our favor, but could not find a way to make it 3-1 in overtime. To make things even worse for us France managed to do what could not and scored. It is too painful every time I watch the video of that game and I always stop the tape after Nene party lost the last chance. All the French I still say it was the best game of the tournament.
28/06/2000 France 2-1 Portugal (ts) (Brussels)
Jose Vidigal: That the team in 2000 was probably one of the best that Portugal has had: great players, talented and great men. We could have made the final pass, who scored first, but it seemed we were destined to suffer. Each player was a leader in his own way and we had a coach [Humberto Coelho], who gave us the greatest freedom and demands the same of us in terms of responsibility.
30/06/2004 Holland 2-1 Portugal (Lisbon)
Maniche: I never imagined it would be a great goal, but when you take a shot on goal is to score. That's what I tried to do. Fortunately I was lucky, it also helps a bit in the circumstances, but [was thinking] shot with conviction. It was a historic moment not only for me but for the whole team - especially, obviously, to me it was a very remarkable, because I will never forget that goal.
