This is the realm of Ryan Lochte and now he plans to rule from his throne, at least until the 2012 London Olympics.
Lochte had a formidable opponent in 14 time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, who was seeking his 10th victory in the Olympic trials 400 meters individual medley race on Monday in Olympic swimming trials in the United States. Phelps was also his essays senses third consecutive win in the 400.
Only Gary Hall Jr. has won three consecutive trials. Lochte stop this nonsense of his rival, although there are plenty of other possibilities in the next eight days.
Lochte, the world champion in the event, the debate was the best swimmer in the world on Monday in Omaha with a dip impressive 4:07.06, a personal best and the judgments of the best textiles, beating Phelps the record of 2004. It is also the fastest time in the world this year.
Lochte, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, assumes no responsibility for sending Phelps to swim the ends of the manor. He has established himself as the king of swimming in the last two years and regrets nothing about his rise to glory.
Taking the 400 IM title was the signature Lochte necessary for his own declaration of independence of swimming. Phelps had lost in the event in nine previous meetings. All that remains is to rob his world record of Phelps at the event, although the brand was established in the days of the techsuit, banned since then.
By winning one of the toughest races in the meet, Lochte was adamant in his heels, looked at bullying in the face, and waved his spectrum in the same.
Phelps may be the Olympic champion in the event, but Lochte is no pretender to the crown. Silence has defiantly turned to eliminate their most fierce competitor in several races.
Lochte will continue to establish its dominance in the Olympic trials when he meets the head of Phelps, in the 200 free and 200 IM. The 400 IM was not a surprise attack. Phelps had to come and see Lochte never stopped their advance.
Phelps is also the Olympic champion in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM, while Lochte, who holds the world record in the 200 IM, won both events at the world championships last year.
Lochte and Phelps have benefited from his extraordinary rivalry. Lochte, who said he can have fun now that his first race is over, beat the greatness needed to find the greatness of himself. This is done on the first day sets the stage for empire building than the rest of the trials.
